Greer asks, “I need my viams (vitamins) – puh-leeaase mommy?” – I’m literally in the middle of peeing (I know, probably TMI – but such is life, right?) Before I can get 10 steps into the kitchen, I notice Miss Priss has climbed onto the counter top, stepped over to the stove, unlocked the cabinet above her head, and opened a child-proof bottle of children’s gummy vitamins – I felt the rise in my blood pressure instantly – I’m sure she saw the steam coming out of my ears. I just love her “can do” attitude – she is always so motivated to make decisions to act on her own behalf – most of which get her other “behalf” spanked.
Preschool lingers right around the corner – but I know not even the best private school in the world can teach this child the importance of using judgement, reason, and values before acting on impulse or emotions – instant gratification is not all it is cracked up to be - I guess that is where good, strong parenting comes in to play - along with some life lessons she will have to learn on her own.
Some might argue, but I believe that children are not born with a blank slate, she is no different. 6 weeks early, on Valentine's Day, Greer Marie, entered this world very strong-willed, it is a dimension of her DNA. While each day is a challenge to teach this beautiful child patience and self-discipline; I am not interested in nor trying to change her personality. She is a leader, a risk taker, she stands up for herself and what she believes in. She recovers from setbacks (or spankings) and finishes what she starts. She is hardworking, loyal, and never afraid to face her fears. She is making history… HERstory.
Any Questions?
